9 Homemade Infused Olive Oil Recipes For Your Glass Olive Oil Sprayer (7)

Ingredients:

2 Cups Olive Oil
Fresh or dried lavender

Preparation:

There are 2 ways to make lavender infused olive oil. You can use the sunlight method or you can cook it.

Cooking is quicker although this is not recommended as it takes a longer cooking time than other herbs and it must remain at low heat - 100–120ºF (38–49ºC) for up to 5 hours depending on your taste and aroma preferences.

If you are going to cook your oil then you should use a small crock pot on low. This will ensure you will have the appropriate temperature. Cooking at too high of heat will ruin the shelf life of the oil.

Cooking:

Place the oil and fresh or dried lavender in the small crock pot

Place the lid on the crockpot and set to low

Let cook for 2 to 5 hours depending on your taste preference.

Sunlight:

Cut the lavender so that it will be completely covered in the oil

Place the lavender (fresh or dried) in an airtight jar

Pour the olive oil over the lavender

Seal the jar and place in a sunny window sill and swirl the mixture around once a day for up to 2 weeks.

Make sure to store them in the refrigerator, especially the ones with fresh herbs in them to prevent molding and botulism. Refrigerated infused oils will also last longer that those kept at room temperatures. The refrigerated oils may turn cloudy but when returned to room temperature they typically clear up for better visual appearance.
