I’ve been taking inspiration in these videos I’m seeing everywhere about toddler sensory bins! Has anybody had any luck with their toddler and sensory bins? I’m just wondering if their worth the time to put it together or is my son just going to dump them everywhere ��

I do kinetic sand with my little guy. I very much supervise him because he would pull out all the sand and play on the floor if he could lol. I see the sand all over the floor of his daycare because of their sensory tables which are like big water tables. The mess is unavoidable!

We love our sensory bins and table. We do it all. Setups can be as easy as throwing pom poms and spoons. Water in bottles to pour, puzzle pieces in rice to find and solve, kinetic sand and tools, etc. Here is one I used for color sorting. FYI, it can sometimes get messy.

My kid has a blast playing with rice and dried beans. It’s messy but we either do it on a drop cloth or blanket or outside. Cant wait to do it in the grass when it’s a little warmer.

Not sure what you mean about time to put it together. I ripped open a bag of rice and beans and dumped them. Took about 30 seconds. Then grabbed toys, cups, etc. Another minute or two. Clean up is a bit of work but so is everything else. Worth all of it. Will do it again tomorrow.

Yeah, that pretty much sounds like what I do now. I think I just overcomplicate them and think that I should put more thought into them. But when in reality, my kid is happy playing with just a box lol

I over think everything so I get it! These are bussing bins for a restaurant that I got at Sam’s Club ($10 for two) and she’s happy as a clam. Carried an old Mayo jar full of beans around for the rest of the day. It’s her treasure lol

Right now i have non “messy” things like one side i have party beads (cut in half) and Pom Poms with a small metal cup so he can fill it up. Other side has kinetic sand. We don’t open that side right now :))))))

Sensory bins don't have to be complicated, or over the top. Our daycare so far is painting with/on ice lately. They've frozen a bin of water, and then had some food coloring on paint brushes they were decorating it with. Then they took a popsicle mold, and filled it with colored water and "painted" with ice.

I think you just have to embrace the mess (saying this to both you and myself ��). My problem is I don’t have a great space/set up for it yet. So I’ll try to do rice or something in a big mixing bowl, but it’s not the right shape and I feel like it ends up being messier than necessary. I need to buy some totes or bins specifically for this and I think it would help!

I know what you mean about over complicating things. I follow a few toddler IG pages and it seems like by the time I get everything together my daughter plays for 5 mins and then is done ��

yup! I don’t have a set space for activities like that just yet so the kitchen it is and it usually consists of rice in a bowl, muffin tins, whatever I can think of. But it gets dumped EVERYWHERE within 5 minutes and I’m vacuuming up rice for days afterwards
