I'm looking for a good, original name for a Magic shop I'm planning on opening relatively soon. Obviously it can't be a card name or anything else copyrighted. Can anyone think of anything?

    ...

I have no extendo-sig. Sorry, I'm just not vain enough to think someone will click on it.

I always have fond memories of a store round here that went under. A Place to Play. had a pretty simple name, but it was neat. [/nostalgia]

or you can go for some generic Ye Olde Carde Shoppe or Battlegrounds or something. meh

I am looking for Date Stamped promos from Khans of Tarkir block so I can finish my set. Check my wants if you have any.

Currently offering 2 non-foil Kolighan's Command for a Date Stamped foil!

    The Great Hall
Mishra's Drawing Room (or any other legend name, as long as it is not solely copyrighted)
Adeptus (insert your city name here)
If your store will support a wide variety of wargames:
    The War College
    The Game Commissary
    Base Camp
    CounterIntelligence

If your store will also feature mostly comics and anime:

How about "Gaming Nation" or "Realitys End"?

I'm not very good with names, but I hope that helps.

Card names (every single one) are the sole property of Wizards of the Coast, and they don't enjoy people naming their stores after cards.

I've actually been thinking about this for a long time (since I realised that I could own a business in college) and have considered calling the the Bizarre Bazzar, Ertai's Emporium (if WotC won't freak), and The Game Nation, among others. If I get into one specific place (the stores at my college) it wll be named Squire Games or Knight's Kards. Obviously, my school mascot is a knight.

I would be very surprised if I was to learn that Wizards was able to attain the sole property rights to words like Island, Lightning Bolt or Tsunami.

Coincidentally, Squire is also a card name.

Well just cuz something is copyrighted doesn't mean you can't use it. My don't you just ask them? That seems like an easy solution.

No, I never said sole. But if you use "Island" as a card in your game, they can probably sue. If you refer to a card, they can sue. There's lots they can sue for. You'dbe shocked. They just have to prove it.

naw they cant sue if you use island as a card name.

How ever they can sue if you use any of their card sets, mana symbols, the tap symbol, and the word "tap"

How about "First to Play" or "The Dragon's Lair"

Stuff like Ertai, Yawgmoth, etc. probably are copyrighted though.

How about, "Your Move Games"? Has a nice ring to it. Or maybe, "Star City Games"?

There's a store at the mall here in Las Vegas called The Counterspell, so I guess being sued isn't a guarantee. Maybe you could just ask them and they wouldn't care since you're helping to sell product?

I remember the good days of good comic shops here in California (There are still a few but not any in my local area like 10-20 min drive). However, I always wanted to open my own shop and if I did I would call it:

    The Card Shop

Because I call every shop that. Haha

However, on more serious terms I would say something like:

    Game Haven

    Sounds pretty cool I suppose.

I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.

    The stack
    The upkeep
    Untap Step
    Main Phase

Other game terms like that would be really cool for a magic shop.

    Others can be:

    Dice masters
    Kings of 20
    Stompy
    Gatherer
    Madmans cave
    Fun Magnet
    Card City

    etc
