There Is No Friend Like Jesus (2024)

There is no friend like Jesus, who understands us like no other friend can. Because He alone can go into the deepest part of our soul, and see us and know us and understand us. Because He is God, He understands and knows all things. He alone knows and understands the feelings of hurt and fear we experience. No one else, not a friend or a spouse or a father or mother or anyone that loves us so much, can ever go into our very soul and see our needs like Jesus can. If you have Him you are blessed because you can call Him into your soul and have Him fill the emptiness you feel, and fill it through and through. Nothing else in this life can do it. No amount of money or shopping or career promotion can equal to God coming into our very depths and filling us. He alone can do it. There is no other friend like Jesus.

You may ask, “How can I have Him like this? How can I have Jesus so that He can fill me like this?” It’s really very simple: just make Him your friend. You have to ask Him to be your friend and fill you the way you want to be filled. You have to ask Him to show you how to do this if you don’t know how. Ask Him to show you how to talk to Him and be your friend.

Making Him our friend is not that hard at all, all we have to do is just talk to Him. Talking to Him doesn’t have to be rocket science. Talk to Him like you would with a friend who you want to be a part of your life. Remember you have to come to Him with all of your heart. The only way to do that is to pour your heart and soul to Him without any reservations. That means when you talk to Him, you tell Him everything you feel inside and everything you’re hiding from Him comes out. You are yourself with Him and you don’t care, because you want Him so much to belong to you. Truth is He doesn’t want it any other way. It’s all or nothing with Him. If we want a love that fills us through and through, we have to empty ourselves to Him of everything that we are, so that He can turn around and fill us with Himself. And I promise you when He’s turned around and filled you of Himself, there is no turning back. There is no wishing for anyone else or anything else to come and fill you because you will be full. You will desire for nothing else in this life but God, because you will come to understand fully what it means now to be filled by Him. You won’t care for anything else. The love of a friend or a spouse is just the icing on the cake now. You will come to understand that they are God’s way of loving you – through them. They are His blessings to you. They are not your source of love, He is. You stop looking for them as the primary source of love because you understand they can never fill you, only God can. You will come to understand that your source of happiness and love and life is really Jesus. Anything else you receive in this life is just icing on the cake. He really is it – everything that matters in this life, Jesus.

We don’t need to look far to find proof of God’s faithfulness. All we have to do is open the Bible and read it, and you will see again and again when man trusts God He is faithful to them. From Noah, to Abraham to Jacob to Joseph and Moses, down the line of great figures in the Bible who trusted God. Again and again God came through for them when they looked to Him for help and He became their friend. He never failed them.

We even see His faithfulness everyday. The way He is with nature is the way He is with His friendship. Everyday the sun rises in the east and sets in the west anywhere in the world. He is faithful even in His seasons of spring, summer, fall and winter. The birds, fish, the animals in the wild are fed and clothed and taken care of whether we care for them or not. The Bible states God doesn’t even forget a sparrow:

“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?” {Luke 12:6}

When God loves, He loves faithfully and without bounds. It means you don’t need to fear to be yourself because He already knows who you are and already understands you. All you have to do is talk to Him and make Him your friend. The more you talk to Him the more He will be your friend. The more you reveal yourself to Him, the more He will reveal Himself to you. He is already your friend. All you have to do is reach out to Him and not be afraid of Him and talk to Him. Talk to Him until you can’t talk to Him anymore. Let Him know everything that you are feeling and thinking. Ask Him anything you want to know and He will reveal all the answers to you in His time, because He knows the best time always.

This doesn’t mean you won’t get hungry again or get tired again or even get aggravated with people again. Having God means you stop striving for perfection and for acceptance from people. You don’t worry anymore about who loves and cares for you. You just stop worrying. You stop fretting about how many friends you have or who would love you. It doesn’t matter anymore. When God becomes your friend you stop worrying about all that, because whatever you desire He gives it to you. When you’ve made God your all-in-all (greater than your life and your greatest needs in this life), forget it – when you desire something He gives it to you. You know it’s just a matter of time before the things you desire will be granted to you. So you stop worrying about what you don’t have because you know if you need it God will give it to you. If you need a friend He will give it to you. If you need a job He will give it to you. If you need a husband or a wife He will give it to you. If you need healing or you have an issue you need worked out in your life He will give it to you. It doesn’t matter, whatever it is that you desire when you learn to talk to God and make God your friend, He will give you the desires of your heart. There is nothing He will not give to you because He’s your friend. He’s a true and faithful friend who loves and satisfies through and through. He has no match. You will never find a friend like Jesus who will love you through and through and will be there for you until the end. He will never lie to you, cheat you, or desert you. He is true and faithful until the end. He can respond to your thoughts in a lightning of a second and assure you of His presence so that you know He is always with you. He’s the greatest friend a man can ever have.

Prayer

Lord, I thank You with all of my heart for You in my life. I thank You for revealing Yourself to me in such an early age and letting me know that I can have You for a friend. Father, You have been my friend who has loved me and cared for me and has filled me deep within the depths of my soul. I love You so much Lord Jesus for being such a gracious God – for being such a great friend to me. Jesus, I thank You for Your grace and Your mercy. I love You so much Lord Jesus.

Savior, I pray Your grace and compassion to be upon us today. Give us faith in Your love for us. Give us a desire to make You truly our friend. To come to You and talk to You all the time without reservation and share with You everything that we are, our thoughts, our desires and our dreams. Help us make You our friend Jesus. Help us love You everyday Savior and not be afraid of You even when we sin and come short of Your glory, because You are a friend that loves us through and through and is always ready to forgive us. Help us Lord Jesus to love You today and make You our friend. I pray in Your sweet and lovely name, Jesus. Thank You, Father God. Amen.
